Designed for ST3 Dermatology applicants who want to get as close to the real thing as possible
We’ll leave no stone unturned in your preparation for the big day. As with all DermCoach courses, our 1-to-1 course is informed by extensive research. We perform thematic analysis on previous interview rounds to establish the focus of interview panels.
By harnessing our research, you will be in the best position to glean from the lessons learned during previous interview rounds.
Your tutor has authentic knowledge of the interview process, having both been through the dermatology interview as well as preparing numerous candidates for successful applications. Studies have shown that there is a direct correlation between quantity of preparation and successful interview outcomes. There is, however, data to suggest that practice that replicates the pressure of the day is likely to result in superior candidate performance.
Why allow the first time you face the dermatology panel to be the highest stakes interview of your career? We can help you identify where you are at in your preparation as well as identifying fruitful areas for further work – these additional points may make the difference between getting in or not.
We are able to structure the 1-to-1 preparation bespoke to your individual needs. While we generally recommend that we conduct a mock interview covering all three stations, we are mindful of your needs. As such, we will contact you prior to your scheduled session to establish your learning objectives enabling us to tailor the session to your needs. For example, if you need extra work on Clinical Scenarios, we can make this the point of focus of the session

Upon receiving the document, read it in full and then consider the main points, important areas, potential application of any findings; and be critical in your analysis.
Station 2 – Clinical scenario
At the start of this question you will read a clinical situation to consider. Interviewers will provide you with some information about a patient to ask for your initial response and will follow this up with a series of follow-on probes relating to the diagnosis and management of this case.
Clinical scenario considerations
The scenario will describe a hypothetical clinical situation which has arisen in which you are, or have become, involved. Some points to consider when reviewing the scenario and preparing for discussion are:
You should also consider any other factors you deem appropriate, using your experience and professional judgement.
Station 3 – Suitability and commitment
This question will focus on your suitability for and commitment to ST3 training in the specialty and give you opportunity to expand on the information provided in your application form. To facilitate this, we will ask you to send us your application form answers ahead of your interview.
